USING ASTROLOGY AS A THERAPEUTIC TOOL WITH MARK JONES

As both a psychosynthesis therapist and astrologer of many years’ experience, Mark is in a unique position to explore the blend of astrology and psychotherapy. In this talk, he will share his vision on how to orient astrology in a way that facilitates the greatest potential for healing and transformation with those seeking a reading.

In order to see the true possibility of astrology, we have to understand its limitation; the natal chart is a symbolic map of human potential, no more, no less. Astrologers often forget the central disclaimer – the map is not the territory!

The talk will explore the following:

How to use a person-centred approach in your consults and collaborate with your clients so that the chart reading doesn’t become a performance.
How to overcome astrological jargon and learn to speak directly to people about the meaning of their lives. People are real; the birth chart is a symbolic map of their potential. This symbolism must be regularly checked against the reality of their life.
How to recognize the shadow of the astrologer: the magician complex, the need to perform, and the anxiety of being in a heretical or fringe profession.

This dynamic presentation will provide a core orientation to astrology that maximises its potential to help people, both for yourself, looking at your own chart and any work that you do to help others. The talk will also include client examples from Mark’s extensive professional practice, illustrating these principles in practice.

ABOUT MARK

Mark Jones is an Astrologer, Psychosynthesis Therapist and Hypnotherapist based in South Wales and works with clients and students all over the world. He is a regular speaker and workshop leader in North America. Mark’s first book explains his approach: Healing the Soul: Pluto, Uranus and the Lunar Nodes. Mark’s second book, The Soul Speaks: The Therapeutic Power of Astrology, explores the transformative power of a natal chart reading. Mark has a joint book, Dialogues (with Frank Clifford), as well as chapters in Astrology: the New Generation, Transpersonal Astrology, and Insights into Evolutionary Astrology. In 2020, Mark published his third book, The Planetary Nodes and Collective Evolution, which Jessica Murray praised as “Astrological inquiry of this nature reconnects us with our spiritual intelligence.”
